The outlaw Elmer McCurdy fled the train robbery and decided to hide in a hayloft at a friend’s ranch.

But a sheriff’s posse tracked him down using bloodhounds a few days later and on the dawn of the October 7 there was a short gun fight in which Elmer was killed.
Now this you think would be the end of McCurdy and his travels, with there being just his final trip to Boot Hill? In fact it was just the beginning!
